As someone who lived in Michigan for years I appreciate you referring to Meijer without the plural. Just the other day I found myself deleting explanation marks, Iโm just too tired to care anymore.
While reading your terrific piece, I recalled the Seinfeld episode when Elaineโs editor chastised her for using too many exclamation points. He read aloud the sentences she wrote with great emphasis while she cringed. You keep me guffawing during these strange and sad times. Thank you!
A year ago, I changed jobs and am now working in the hallowed halls of Academia. One of the biggest changes has been a return to more formal writing, even on Teams chats. I really enjoy working with people who understand and appreciate grammar :-)
